Is it really Mardi Gras without your favorite flavor of MoonPie? We don’t think so – and we’re glad to help get them to the celebration!
While Mobile, Alabama is the birthplace of Mardi Gras, many are surprised to learn that the favorite throw, the MoonPie, is made in Chattanooga, Tennessee bakery. It’s believed the soft treat took over as a throw around the 1950s, when float riders wanted to find something softer that would still travel a good distance. It’s just icing on the cake that these items are also inexpensive and delicious!
Wright Transportation is proud to be part of this decades-long tradition by delivering most of the MoonPies to Mobile Mardi Gras. For 2022 celebrations, our drivers delivered a total of 27,560 cases of MoonPies to the Gulf Coast – that’s 11 truckloads weighing more than 250,000 pounds!
